The first thing to clarify is that the vulnerable parts of the generator set include three types of filters: air filter, oil filter, and diesel filter. To extend the service life of the diesel generator set, it is necessary to strengthen the maintenance of the air filter, oil filter, and diesel filter cleaner during use, and fully play their roles.

When installing the air filter, it is not allowed to miss, reverse or install the sealing gaskets and rubber connecting pipes incorrectly, and ensure the tightness of each embedded part. The paper dust collector air filter used should be cleaned of dust once every 50-100 hours of operation. The surface dust can be brushed off with a soft bristled brush. If the working time exceeds 500 hours or it is damaged, it should be replaced in a timely manner. Use an oil bath air filter. After every 100-200 hours of operation, clean the filter element with clean diesel and replace the oil inside. If the filter element is broken, it needs to be replaced immediately. Pay attention to adding oil according to regulations during use.

If the oil filter is not maintained in a timely manner during the use of a diesel generator set, the filter element may become clogged, the oil pressure may increase, the safety valve may open, and the lubricating oil may flow directly into the main oil passage, which will exacerbate the wear of the lubricating surface and affect the service life of the diesel generator set. Therefore, the oil filter should be cleaned once every 180-200 hours of operation. If any damage is found, it should be replaced immediately to prevent impurities from entering the lubrication surface.

When using the generator set for seasonal changes, the crankcase and various lubrication surfaces should also be cleaned. The method is to use a mixture of engine oil, kerosene, and diesel as washing oil. After the engine oil is drained, washing oil can be added for cleaning. Then, the diesel generator set should be operated at low speed for 3-5 minutes, and the washing oil should be drained before adding new engine oil.

The various fuel filters in the fuel supply system should be cleaned of debris every 100-200 hours of operation, and the fuel tank and various oil pipelines should be cleaned. When cleaning the filter element and seals, special care should be taken and any damage should be replaced promptly. When changing oil during seasonal transitions, all components of the entire fuel supply system should be cleaned. The diesel used should meet seasonal requirements and undergo 48 hours of precipitation purification treatment.

Note: The air filter, oil filter, and fuel filter are vulnerable parts and need to be replaced with new ones when used for more than 500 hours. This can better extend the service life of diesel generator sets.
